The National Business Center (NBC) has published its statistical indicators for the period January–June 2026, highlighting positive developments in the economic and administrative activity reflected in the registers managed by the institution. The data show an increase in new business registrations, stronger participation of foreign capital, and a rise in applications for permits, licenses, and registrations in the Register of Beneficial Owners.
During the first half of 2026, a total of 11,567 new business entities were registered, representing 806 more registrations than during the same period in 2025 and marking a 7.5% increase year-on-year.
The registration structure continues to be dominated by sole proprietorships, with 8,757 registrations, accounting for 75.7% of the total, followed by limited liability companies (LLCs) with 2,775 registrations.
In terms of ownership, businesses with 100% Albanian capital remained predominant, with 10,179 registrations. Meanwhile, registrations of businesses with 100% foreign capital increased significantly by 35.7%, reaching 1,240 entities, reflecting growing interest from foreign investors in the Albanian economy.
Geographically, Tirana County continued to lead with 6,039 registrations, accounting for 52.2% of the total, followed by Vlora with 1,347 and Durrës with 1,310 registrations. Significant growth was also recorded in the northern counties of Lezhë, Shkodër, Dibër, and Kukës.
By economic activity, the wholesale and retail trade sector remained the most popular for new business registrations, with 2,771 entities, followed by accommodation and food service activities, professional activities, transportation, and information and communication. Strong growth was also recorded in the real estate sector (+35.8%) and transportation and storage (+26.3%).
Within the National Register of Permits, Licenses and Authorizations, 897 licenses were registered during the January–June 2026 period, while the number of permits reached 124, representing a 6.9% increase compared to the same period a year earlier. Type B Environmental Permits constituted the largest category of registered permits.
Meanwhile, the Register of Beneficial Owners recorded 2,813 registered entities, representing a 7.1% increase compared to the first half of 2025. Registrations continued to be dominated by limited liability companies (LLCs), which account for almost all entities registered in this register.
