he National Business Center (QKB) has published data on registry activity for March 2026, confirming a positive entrepreneurial dynamic and a continued expansion of economic activity compared to the same period last year.
According to official data, during March 2026, 1,780 new entities were registered, reflecting an increase in business activity. Compared to March 2025, when 1,565 new businesses were registered, the trend remains upward—around 13.7% higher—demonstrating a more active business climate and a higher rate of market entry.
The geographical structure continues to be dominated by Tirana with 986 entities, followed by Vlora, Durrës, and Fier, confirming the concentration of economic activity in urban and coastal areas. In terms of ownership, businesses with 100% Albanian capital make up the majority with 1,562 entities, while foreign-owned and joint ventures also continue to grow.
The most common legal form remains sole proprietorships with 1,291 registrations, followed by limited liability companies (482), reflecting a typical structure of small and medium-sized enterprises in the country.
Regarding sectors, the main activities where new registrations are concentrated are:
- wholesale and retail trade (386 entities),
- accommodation and food service activities (261),
- professional, scientific and technical activities (180),
- information and communication (173),
- construction (159).
An important indicator is also women’s participation in business, where during March 2026, 568 entities were registered and managed by women, reflecting their increasing involvement in economic activity.
In the Register of Permits and Licenses, a total of 179 permits and licenses were issued, of which 153 were licenses and 26 were permits. The healthcare services sector, transport activities, and tourism continue to hold the largest share in this register.
Meanwhile, in the Register of Beneficial Owners, 505 entities were registered, reflecting the continuation of transparency efforts and compliance with international standards for identifying real ownership.
In total, during March 2026, 11,784 applications were registered across all three registers, representing a high volume of administrative activity and an increase compared to March 2025.
These data confirm a steady development of entrepreneurship in Albania, as well as the role of the QKB in facilitating procedures, increasing transparency, and supporting the formalization of the economy.
