The National Business Center (NBC) has released the statistical indicators of its activity for 2025, reflecting a year characterized by a high volume of services, increased registrations of new businesses, and extensive use of digital services.
Throughout 2025, the NBC processed a total of 177,307 applications, of which 154,436 were submitted to the Commercial Register, 13,025 to the Register of Permits, Licenses and Authorizations, and 9,846 to the Register of Beneficial Owners. Compared to previous years, the overall volume of applications remained stable, while notable growth was recorded in applications related to the Register of Beneficial Owners and licensing services.
The most frequently used services by businesses in 2025 were primarily related to the Commercial Register. These included the submission of annual financial statements, amendments for limited liability companies and sole proprietors, registration of sole proprietors, and suspension of activity. In the Register of Permits, Licenses and Authorizations, the most common requests concerned new applications, amendments, voluntary revocations, and extensions of validity periods. Meanwhile, the Register of Beneficial Owners was dominated by applications for initial registration and updates of existing data.
New business registrations experienced significant growth in 2025, with 20,765 newly registered entities, compared to 17,500 in 2024 and 16,853 in 2023. The geographical distribution shows that Tirana continues to account for the largest share with 11,175 new businesses, followed by Durrës (2,185), Vlorë (1,913), Fier (1,173), Elbasan (873), and Shkodër (849). Considerable numbers of new registrations were also recorded in Lezhë, Korçë, Berat, Gjirokastër, Dibër, and Kukës.
In terms of economic activities, the highest number of registrations was recorded in wholesale and retail trade, including the repair of motor vehicles and motorcycles (5,341). This was followed by accommodation and food service activities (2,878), construction (1,663), professional, scientific and technical activities (1,645), information and communication (1,547), administrative and support service activities (1,515), and transport and storage (1,433).
In the field of permits and licenses, a total of 2,000 new licenses were issued during 2025, mainly for medical and dental services, food production and trade, pharmacies, vehicle-related activities, tour operators, and wholesale trade of food products of animal origin. Additionally, 249 new permits were granted, with a strong presence of Type B environmental permits, fishing and aquatic fauna exploitation permits, and mining permits. Compared to previous years, this indicator also shows steady growth.
An important highlight of 2025 is the participation of women in entrepreneurship, with 6,596 entities reported to be managed by women.
The indicators for 2025 confirm the role of the National Business Center as a key institution in facilitating the business climate, advancing the digitalization of services, and supporting entrepreneurship by offering transparency, efficiency, and simplified access for citizens and businesses across the country.
